But in a season full of ups and downs (mostly downs thus far), Yankee fans cannot help but wonder if Brian Cashman and the Bombers have a legitimate shot at landing one of the best starting pitchers in all of baseball. Tampa Yankees: 23-15 (2nd in Florida State League North Division Standings, 2.0 games back) Overall : Just as the common trend with the Yankee farm system, the Tampa Yankees are one of the more talented teams in all of high Single-A. They’ve got a great mix of star power and contributions from other unexpected sources. James Kaprielian going down with an arm injury likely jeopardized him making it to the MLB this season, but there are still healthy prospects in Tampa who appear to have bright futures.

Unfortunately, the Yankees have been continually hit with injuries lately, whether it is with James Kaprielian, their top pitching prospect and #4 prospect in their system, or Alex Rodriguez, a seasoned veteran whose contributions last year (33 HR, 86 RBIs) were extremely important to the team. Below are some updates on injuries to major league players and key minor league players around the Yankees organization. This is only current as of Monday, April 25. Alex Rodriguez (on the 25-man & 40-man roster) : During the Yankees 8-1 loss to the Rays, A-Rod was taking practice swings in the cages before his sixth inning at-bat but then felt stiffness on his left oblique. He was replaced by Dustin Ackley. Although Girardi did not look optimistic in his post-game presser, his MRI on the oblique was negative, and he felt much better on Monday. He did not play in today’s (Monday, 4/25) win over the Rangers, but by his reports, it sounds like he will be back in the lineup by Wednesday or ...

Since being drafted in the second-round of the 2014 draft, things have escalated quickly like our good friend Ron Burgundy once told us. Lindgren flew through the minors, pitching well everywhere he stopped, before appearing in the big leagues just one-year after being selected by the Yankees. Between Andrew Miller winning the Mariano Rivera Award and Dellin Betances leading MLB relievers with 131 strikeouts, the back-end of the Yankees bullpen was a vital part of their 2015 success. However, outside of Justin Wilson and Adam Warren (when he wasn’t in the rotation), the Yankees bullpen often fell flat, especially in extra innings.

Sure, scouts have the ability point out those prospects that will be studs in the majors from an early age. However, there are so many scouts on so many different experience levels which typically correlate to their ability to evaluate potential major leaguers. That’s why coming to a consensus on a farm system is extremely subjective at all levels.
