Creating a Yankees' trade package: Cole Hamels

Image
Last year Cashman acquired Sonny Gray, Jaime Garcia, David Robertson, Tommy Khanle, and Todd Frazier before the July 31st deadline, which helped drive the Bombers to game seven of the ALCS, but they gave up some of their better prospect in the process. The team has its sights set on a championship, so GM Brian Cashman will undoubtedly upgrade the starting pitching at the deadline, but who and for what? Philly.com

Previewing the Starting Pitcher trade market

Image
Since Spring Training, it has seemed like a foregone conclusion: the Yankees will make a deal for a starting pitcher. Now, with the announcement on Tuesday that left-hander Jordan Montgomery will require Tommy John Surgery to repair his throwing elbow, the need is more pressing than ever. Thanks to a lack of consistency from everyone in the Yankees rotation aside from ace Luis Severino, Brian Cashman will have to work his magic again to ensure that New York has a fighting chance against their American League foes if the Yankees make a playoff run. So, what moves can Cashman reasonably make that would bolster the Yankees rotation for October baseball?   Photo Credit:  Thearon W. Henderson / Getty Images

MLB Trade Rumors: Cole Hamels: “The Yankees have a tremendous team. I feel like I have a lot left…”

The Yankees do not have a lot of holes on their roster, but it is a consensus by now that a starting pitcher is the most glaring need. The Yankees have been linked to Hamels in the early going, and now he is showing a desire to pitch in some big games in New York.   Photo Credit: Getty Images

Six early trade deadline targets for the New York Yankees

The Yankees are now 22-10 and are only half of a game back of the Boston Red Sox in the American League East standings. The Yankees have proven they are for real and will undoubtedly be in the playoff picture come October, but this does not mean the team is not flawless. Where do teams typically try to patch up the holes on their roster? The Trade Deadline. I know the season is roughly a month and some change away from prime trade talks, but I wanted to do an early preview of the areas of need the Yankees may have and who they might pursue.
